Summer at Beech Mountain Resort 

Beech Mountain Resort isn't just for skiing anymore as the warmer months bring a variety of activities for people of all ages. Mile high yoga, downhill mountain biking, outdoor concerts, beginner mountain biking lessons, disc golf and scenic chairlift rides are available at various times from late May through early September. Also available are food & beverage options at 5506' Skybar at the mountaintop or Beech Mountain Brewing Co. in the resort village.

Every Saturday at 10 a.m. (June 3-Sept. 2)

Take your relaxation to new heights by riding the chairlift to the observation deck of the 5506' Skybar for these special yoga sessions. The resort's hand-picked instructors bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to help you strengthen your body, calm your mind, and find a little inspiration for the rest of your journey.

Cost is $15 and tickets may be purchased at Ski Beech Sports in the resort village. Yoga mat rentals are available for $2. Arrive at 10 a.m. to purchase tickets and ride the chairlift. Sessions begin at 10:30 a.m. For more information, click here.


Downhill mountain bikingDownhill Mountain Biking

Thursdays: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. (June 1-Aug. 31)
Fri-Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (May 27-Sept. 3)

Each summer, the ski slopes at Beech Mountain Resort become downhill biking trails served by the resort's chairlift. Take your pick from beginner, moderate and advanced trails. There's something for everyone, even the most advanced riders. Beech Mountan Resort has twice hosted USA Cycling's Mountain Biking Gravity Nationals, challenging the best riders in the country.

Cost is $10 for a single ride on the chairlift or $35 for a day pass. Juniors 12 and under receive a day pass for $28. Ages five and under ride free with a paid adult. Mountain bike rentals are also available at Ski Beech Sports in the resort village.

Skybar in SummerMusic at 5506' Skybar

Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. (June 3-Sept. 2)

The coolest mountaintop bar east of the Rockies is the place to catch live music every Saturday between June 3 and Sept. 2. The resort's summer music series combines great bands, cold beverages and spectacular panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Because of such natural beauty, Wine Enthusiast magazine included the 5506’ Skybar on its list of 8 Sizzling Ski Resort Bars in America. Concerts start at 2:30 p.m. each Saturday, weather permitting.

Cost is $10 to ride the chairlift. The concerts themselves are free. Musical genres range from rock to country, blues to bluegrass, funk to folk, with a few other surprises as well.

Scenic Chairlift RidesScenic Chairlift Rides

Thursdays: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. (June 1-Aug. 31)
Fri-Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (May 27-Sept. 3)

Scenic chairlift rides at Mountain Resort provide long-range panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Enjoy the sights during a climb of more than 800 feet to one of the highest peaks in the area.
 
At the summit, visitors have the option of hiking the Emerald Outback trails or taking a short walk over to the 5506' Skybar and observation deck. Pose for group photos, enjoy a cool beverage or grab lunch inside the glass roundhouse skybar. It is the highest ski resort bar east of the Rockies.
 
Important requirements for riding chairlift: riders must be at least 36" tall, regardless of whether accompanied by a parent. All riders must have proper footwear for walking on the side of a mountain. For pricing and complete chairlift regulations, click here.

Disc Golf Beech MountainDisc Golf

Thursdays: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. (June 1-Aug. 31)
Fri-Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (May 27-Sept. 3)

Beech Mountain Resort is home to an 18-hole disc golf course that is accessed by riding the chairlift. The professionally-built course takes advantage of the ridges and natural topography of the ski resort to produce a memorable experience for beginners and experts alike.

The course plays mostly downhill and features Innova Discatcher Pro Targets, framed Disconcepts Launch pads and custom tee signs. Cost for 18 holes, including lift ride, is $15. Disc rental is $10 for a set of three.
