Throughout the year, visitors can hike and bike along pristine nature trails, admiring the views of four different states from any number of picturesque vistas. These breathtaking views give nature lovers a glimpse of the great outdoors at its most beautiful. Similarly, our well-stocked lakes present the chance to haul in trophy catches throughout the fishing season, and fly fishing is especially popular.
Another favorite pastime among out-of-towners is enjoying the western North Carolina whitewater. Take a breathtaking raft excursion down Class 3 rapids, or just soak up the scenery on a leisurely float in a canoe. Several local outfitters offer canoeing, tubing, kayaking, rock climbing, and guided fly-fishing adventure packages.
Over at the Buckeye Recreation Center, pickup basketball, tennis, and volleyball games are commonplace throughout the year, every day of the week. It’s the perfect opportunity to get that much-needed cardio exercise, or just amp up that inter-family competitiveness.
If golf is your game, you won’t find a more beautiful place to play 18 holes than the Beech Mountain Club. It has all the exclusive amenities of a world-class private resort, yet is accessible to visitors with most on-mountain accommodations rentals.
Beech offers a wide array of seasonal events for the young and young at heart. From crafts shows to street dances, hog roasts to the world’s only Mile-High Kite Flying Festival, community-wide events display Beech Mountain’s true sense of inclusiveness.
Beech Mountain’s very own Lower Pond Creek Trail has waterfalls throughout. a visitor, you’re always welcome up here.
Picturesque Buckeye Lake and Coffey Lake are home to some of the most gorgeous scenery on the mountain. Fish, canoe, or just enjoy the scenery of these mountaintop reservoirs.
Buckeye Lake is the centerpiece of the Town’s recreational facilities. It is home to Buckeye Recreation Center, a softball field, and a playground for the kids, and is the trailhead for several of Beech Mountain's hiking and biking trails.
Coffey Lake is a paved 1/8-mile course that wraps around the lake and is perfect for both walking and jogging. A parking area is available with direct access to the trail. This area also has a basketball court.
