Buckeye lake offer fishing year round. Fishing season for other lakes ( including Coffey Lake) begins the first Saturday in April and runs through the end of February. Fishing licenses are required for anyone over the age of 16 and are available for purchase on Beech Mountain at Fred's General Mercantile Store. Fishing equipment and bait may be purchased there also..The state stocks both lakes on Beech Mountain
If you are planning to visit in June, ask about the Kiddo Fishing Derby, which is free for children aged 4 through 12. It’s the perfect chance for kids to win prizes, and haul in that once-in-a-lifetime catch.
